Senior Policy Director Alexandra Bell was referenced in a New York Times editorial on the necessity of staying in the Open Skies Treaty.
Alexandra Bell of the Center for Arms Control and Non-Proliferation and Anthony Wier of the Friends Committee on National Legislation also say that the surveillance planes have more flexibility than satellites. Overflights can be done with only a 24-hour notice, versus the several days it takes to put a satellite in place, and the planes can double back if needed to take a more comprehensive set of images.
