According to FMWG Chair Miles Pomper and Ferenc DV from the James Martin Center for Nonproliferation Studies, the National Nuclear Security Administration’s (NNSA) voluntary Cesium Irradiator Replacement Project “has replaced 50 CsCl blood irradiation devices as of March 2019” and has commitments for 79 more replacements over the next several years. The program’s continued growth is a positive step for nuclear security.
