Sarah Tully is a Policy Analyst at the Center for Arms Control and Non-Proliferation where her work focuses on an array of security issues including the Pentagon budget, diplomacy with Russia and Iran, military engagement in the Middle East, and nuclear weapons spending.
Sarah has a master’s degree in Middle East, Caucasus, and Central Asian Security Studies from the University of St. Andrews in Scotland where she conducted a content analysis of the Taliban’s public statements for her thesis. She graduated cum laude from Barnard College of Columbia University with department honors in Linguistics and a focus on Arabic/Middle Eastern Studies. As an undergraduate, Sarah interned at Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans of America, New York City for which she was awarded a stipend by the TOW Foundation Public Service Internship Program; and as a graduate student she interned at West Sands Advisory Limited, a UK-based corporate firm that engages in political risk assessment. She is proficient in Arabic, having studied in Amman, Jordan and at the Middlebury College Arabic Language School.
