North Korea and Iran are both key hotspot issues that are not included on the official agenda because they are seen to distract and detract attention and focus away from the central objective of the Nuclear Security Summit process, which is nuclear terrorism prevention and preventing vulnerable nuclear materials from falling in the hands of terrorists and non-state actors. In the wake of Pyongyang’s announced rocket and satellite launch, we can expect world leaders to send North Korea a strong message, either condemning North Korea or urging and calling on North Korea not to go ahead with the rocket launch.”
