Anna Schumann is the Communications Director for the Center for Arms Control and Non-Proliferation, overseeing the strategy and implementation of all website, public relations, email marketing, print, digital media, social media and design tasks. Previously, she was the Communications Manager for the Association of Government Accountants, responsible for email strategy, social media, public relations and writing and editing. She has worked as an Editor for SmartBrief, managing the production of 13 email newsletters, and was a newspaper and online reporter in her hometown of Houston.
Schumann holds bachelor’s degrees in journalism and political science from Texas Tech University. Her professional passion has always been at the intersection of policy and communications, and articulating how policy affects people. Though this is her first job in this field, she has fallen in love with nuclear weapons policy and the many possibilities that exist for communicating its intricacies to the general public — especially to new audiences and younger generations.

Schumann is a member of the National Capital Chapter of the Public Relations Society of America, the National Press Club and the Junior League of Washington. In her free time, she roots on her Texas Tech Red Raiders and Houston Astros, and enjoys exploring all the beauty and history in the mid-Atlantic region.
