Crippling Iran sanctions around the corner, but what will EU do?

Policy Analyst James McKeon spoke with Sinclair about the new sanctions being imposed on Iran.

But James McKeon with the Center for Arms Control and Non-proliferation, said the European Union appears to be trying to continue its business relationship with Iran as outlined in the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action.

“From their stand point they are still party to the agreement. Therefore they should still be able to engage in legitimate trade with Iranian companies,” McKeon said.

It’s unclear how those country’s businesses would be suffer if it all, but if Iran does fall to its knees economically, he says the Iranians may withdraw from the deal themselves.

“That means all restrictions on their nuclear program this historic agreement would be gone and that would be very destabilizing for the Middle East,” he said. Read more
