Introducing Sarah Tully, our newest addition to the Center staff who joins the team as the new Research and Policy Associate. Meet Sarah:
I am thrilled to join the Center and Council team full-time as Research & Policy Associate having interned here during fall 2014.In my new role, my work will continue to focus on an array of security issues including diplomacy with Russia and Iran, military engagement in the Middle East, and nuclear weapons spending. I will also be conducting investigative research and analysis on related issues using open-source data and information acquired through the Freedom of Information Act.
I recently received my master’s degree in Middle East, Caucasus, and Central Asian Security Studies from the University of St Andrews in Scotland where I conducted a content analysis of the Taliban’s public statements for my thesis. I graduated cum laude from Barnard College of Columbia University in 2013 with departmental honors in Linguistics and a focus on Arabic/Middle Eastern Studies. As an undergraduate, I interned at Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans of America; and as a graduate student I interned at West Sands Advisory Limited, a UK-based corporate firm that engages in political risk assessment. I am proficient in Arabic, having studied in Amman, Jordan and at the Middlebury College Arabic Language School. I’m originally from Chicago where I spent many years training as a competitive and professional Irish dancer. In my spare time I teach Irish dance in the DC area.
At the Center, I look forward to making a contribution to a more peaceful and livable world.
