The Center for Arms Control and Non-Proliferation and Council for a Livable World join scientists and advocates of nuclear sanity around the world in mourning the death of Dr. Sidney Drell. Dr. Drell, a man of precision and passion, led a life guided by the scientific method and devoted to serving humanity. He was one of our greatest mentors, always available to counsel presidents, agencies, congressional committees and their staff, and non-governmental organizations. We will miss Sid’s guidance and encouragement, on topics ranging from ballistic missile defense to nuclear safety and nuclear deterrence in a world without nuclear weapons. But we will continue with confidence on the path that he blazed, toward a world that will no longer live in the shadow of nuclear annihilation.
