Executive Director John Tierney spoke with Al Jazeera about North Korea’s recent missile tests and provocations.
John Tierney, the executive director of the Center for Arms Control and Non-Proliferation, said some experts do not believe “North Korea has yet mastered any ability to actually miniaturise and place a weapon successfully” on an ICBM, and they also doubt whether it has perfected “an ability of the missiles to successfully withstand re-entry speeds and temperatures”. He noted that North Korea’s most recent ICBM test was judged to be a failure but said concerns exist as Pyongyang is “continuing to test and improve at a fairly quick pace”. Read more
