Uncertainty surrounds the fate of Iran’s nuclear program

In turn, John Erath, senior director of policy at the Center for Arms Control and Nonproliferation, also based in the US capital, agrees in part with O’Hanlon. “It is difficult to assess the extent of the damage to Fordow, especially given the fact that significant parts of the targets are underground. It is likely that there was some damage, but even if the facilities are currently inoperative, the nuclear weapons program is not over. Iran retains the most important element – the technical know-how – and can rebuild it,” he assured the Correio.

Erath acknowledges the possibility that the Iranian regime has removed the radioactive load from the Fordow plant. “Enriched uranium is relatively transportable. If there are new negotiations on the future of the Iranian nuclear program, this should be a key issue,” he argued. Read more
